Clove Hitch
A quick, adjustable knot for anchoring in to a point.
The clove hitch is prized because it’s adjustable under load — you can lengthen or shorten it without untying, which makes it great for anchoring in at a fixed point.
Why this knot
- Adjustable without retying.
- Easy to untie even after being weighted.
- Quick to tie one-handed once practiced.
Steps
- Make two loops in the rope, in the same direction.
- Stack the second loop behind the first.
- Clip both loops through a carabiner, or drop them over a post.
- Snug it down and adjust length as needed.
